This section gives samples of warning signages stipulated under various sections of the Indian tobacco control law called COTPA, 2003 in short. The colour and size specifications have been prescribed in the Act; they have to be adhered to

How to use these images:

      SECTION 4 - BOARDS PROHIBITING SMOKING IN PUBLIC PLACES

These boards should have a minimum size of 60 cm (width) x 30 cm (height). Boards in English and Malayalam given here:

SECTION 5 - DISPLAY BOARDS AT POINTS OF SALE (PLACE WHERE TOBACCO PRODUCTS ARE SOLD)

These boards should have a minimum size of 60 cm (width) x 45 cm (height). It should have a health warning of 20 cm (width) x 15 cm (height). Boards in English and Malayalam given here:

SECTION 6 (a) - PROHIBITION OF TOBACCO PRODUCTS TO MINORS (FOR DISPLAY AT POINTS OF SALE - WHERE TOBACCO PRODUCTS ARE SOLD)

These boards should have a minimum size of 60 cm (width) x 30 cm (height). It should carry a pictorial warning covering 50 per cent of the board. Boards in English and Malayalam given here:

SECTION 6 (b) - BAN ON SALE OF TOBACCO PRODUCTS AROUND EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS

SECTION 7 - MANDATORY HEALTH WARNINGS IN TOBACCO PRODUCTS PACKAGES

These warnings should occupy at least forty per cent of the principal display area of the front panel of the pack.  The pictorial depiction of the ill effects of tobacco use on health are to be placed above the textual health warning. Boards in English and Malayalam given here:
